Lorain & West Virginia Railway
2008 OPERATING SCHEDULE
The 2008 L&WV operating season is from the first weekend in August through the last weekend in October and includes every Saturday and Sunday. There are also Special Halloween Rides scheduled for the last two weekends in October. We will operate daily during Lorain County Fair Week - August 18-24!
In spite of rising fuel and insurance costs, we believe that we offer one of the best value excursion rides in terms of fares for the mileage and quality of the equipment operated.
We have chartered trips for
company events and school field trips. Days and times for these trips are
pre-arranged. We offer special fare discounts for Lorain County Schools on
Field trips during our regular operating season. Weekday events are
available for groups of 50 or more. Send e-mail with your request for charter information to membership@lakeshorerailway.org.
All excursion trips, excluding Halloween Rides, Fair Week and special events, are a
minimum of 6 miles each way, or 12 miles total, behind E8-A
L&WV #101. Unless otherwise noted, all trips depart
from our station on State Route 18 in Wellington, which is one
mile west of the State Route 58 intersection with State Route 18. The LSRA
reserves the right to change equipment or length of trip without advanced
notice.

HALLOWEEN EXCURSIONS
Friday and Saturday evenings of the last two weekends in October, riders enjoy a spooky ride in the dark to a scary area where only the brave passengers detrain for a walk through the railway's haunted woods. Jack-o'-lanterns and luminaires are the only lights along the pathway where ghosts and strange creatures reside. Survivors are treated to cider beside a bonfire before the train returns to civilization. The path is entertaining to young children; however, it is not recommended for children under 3 years old.
